Restoman's Western Adventure, part 3
Sep. 3rd, 2006 02:14 amDAYS 7-12
The day after I arrived at my Sister's house in Spokane, she invited a few of her friends over and we celebrated my birthday with a BBQ and ice cream cake on the back yard deck. I enjoyed meeting her offbeat friends, and we had a good time.
The main reason for my trip was to help remodel the second floor of her house. Now that all 3 of my nieces are grown and out of the house, Linnell and Bruce wanted to turn the second floor of their 1910 bungalow into a master bedroom. This meant taking out several walls and adding a bathroom ~ a somewhat tricky problem due to the skimpy roof framing of the house. By adding several headers, I was able to take out 2 walls, opening 2 average-size bedrooms into one large space. I also was able to create another closet out of wasted space under the eaves. It was 6 days of hard, dirty, dusty work which ultimately will be completed by others, but I was able to accomplish a lot and make a much better layout.
