It has been a while since I did a general update. It has been a very busy week for me.

  • The weather has been steadily getting better and warmer. The last of the snow in my back yard melted a few days ago, and the Crocuses have been blooming for over a week. Although snow season is not totally over yet, it looks like Syracuse will be the winner, with Rochester coming in second place. It is not very often that Rochester beats Buffalo in the snow race, ...but Syracuse usually wins! ;-)

  • Mark has been living with me for the past month. His breakup with Michelle now seems to be complete. Two weeks ago, Mark decided to shave his head. It is a drastic change for him, and I'm still not used to his new "look".

  • This week I treated myself to a new Scott's Stamp Catalogue. At $125.00 plus tax, it was an expensive investment, but I really like it. This catalogue only covers my favorite area of collecting, the "classic" period for worldwide stamps (1840 to 1940). It goes into a lot more detail than my past catalogues, and now pictures the stamps in COLOR!!!

  • I have now met 5 of my Live Journal friends in person. Wednesday I got together with the good and noble [livejournal.com profile] boomeroo. We had dinner at Sausalita's in Liverpool, and then he gave me a tour of the firehouse where he is a volunteer fireman. It was really cool getting a close-up look at the eqipment and fire engines, and learning how everything works. Thanks, Xander! I'm glad we met!! ;-)

  • Thursday evening I went "Urban Exploring" with my friend, Bob. Bob is one of the few friends I have that has a real sense of adventure. Armed with our cameras and a flashlight, we went to a large, abandoned industrial complex on Syracuse's north side. Access was easy through basement level doors that were wide open. Once inside, we climbed up a narrow spiral iron staicase. Our adreneline was running high as we entered the main floor of the first of the huge buildings. We heard some voices, and went to find out who was there. It turned out to be 2 young guys in their early 20s who claimed to be scouting out a place to go skateboarding. We talked with them for a few minutes, and they pointed out passageways to take to other parts of the complex. They left after that. I think they were a bit spooked by meeting us in there. Bob and I spent the next 3 hours taking pictures and exploring the buildings. The buildings ranged in age from the 1870s up to the 1940s. All had been abandoned for a long time, Some of the buildings were partly collapsed, and some had burned. There seemed to have been a number of different businesses located there at various times, including a large steel fabrication shop, and a lumber yard. Some of the photos are behind a cut below.

  • Ever since my trip out west, I have had a craving for Buffalo meat. To my surprise, Wegmans carries it in 1 pound packages. Tonight I am making Buffalo meatloaf for dinner. Yummmm!!! Buffalos are tasty little critters! *smacks lips*

  • Now for the fun part!!! To celebrate April Fools' Day, one of these bullet points is a LIE!!! ...a complete fabrication!!!

    Guess which one!
