Bows and flows of angel hair and ice cream castles in the air. And feather canyons everywhere, I've looked at clouds that way.

I often try to spend my birthday driving around the countryside enjoying the scenery. I planned to do that today, but it was rainy , gray, hot and humid, ~one of those days best spent in front of an air conditioner. This evening, after I had dinner at Outback Steakhouse, the sun came back out. Two huge cloud masses towered over the eastern fringes of the city. On the spur of the moment I decided to try to salvage the day and go cloud chasing. I grabbed my camera and headed toward high points to the east and south of the city, trying to find the best vantage point for watching the spectacular cloud formations. They kept moving farther away and slowly changed from brilliant white to a muted crimson rose as the sun dropped lower. By the time the sun dipped below the horizon, I had driven into the hills of Pompey, NY. After I watched the last of the sun disappear, and the billows of clouds fade from rose to gray, I drove back home, feeling very peaceful.
